Are you looking for a wooden watch that doesn’t require batteries? A wooden watch that never needs charging? Then you want an automatic movement wooden watch – also sometimes known as self-winding wooden watch or mechanical movement wood watch. Here at Burnham Wooden Watches, we carry a number of automatic wood watch designs.
These beautiful designs contain a number of different features ranging from solid wood cases, to stainless steel and many include a skeleton face so you can see the visible gears and movement inside the watch.
The Best Automatic Mechanical Wood Watches
Mechanical / self-winding movements are often chosen over the quartz movements we all know for luxury watches because of the level of quality and craftsmanship of mechanical movements. Skillfully created by expert watchmakers, these automatic movements contain an finely tuned series of tiny components working together to power the timepiece.

How a Mechanical Movement Wooden Watch Works:
Unlike quartz movements, a mechanical movement in a wooden watch uses energy from a wound spring, rather than a battery, to power the watch. This spring stores energy and transfers it through a series of gears and springs, regulating the release of energy to power the watch. In the wooden watches we carry, the spring is wound automatically when you wear your watch. This is accomplished by having a small weight in the back of the watch that moves when your wrist moves.
